Liberty Basic Ver 1.4
Well I just downloaded Liberty Basic yesterday (14th Dec) and, in less than one day, I've produced a small (but very useful) program, plus had time left over to add this page to my site.  If you have ever dreamed of writing your own Windows programs, this is the product for you.  Admittedly, I have programmed before, but never with Windows and never with Basic.  I tried to use Turbo Pascal for Windows, then Visual Basic, but I just couldn't seem to get the hang of it. I thought my programming days were over, then I stumbled accross Liberty Basic. WOW!!!!! If you have ever dabbled in Basic programming (even under Dos), you will be able to get something working with this.  And even if you can't, there are all sorts of programs (with source code provided) available on the net. Games, Utilities, Business Applications, you name it... its there.
There are two versions of Liberty Basic - Shareware and Registered.  The Shareware version is fully functioning, but you cannot produced standalone compiled programs.  That is, you need Liberty Basic to run any programs you produce (and therefore cannot distribute them to others unless they also have a copy of Liberty Basic). The registered version obviously doesnt have this limitation.
You can get the latest version of Liberty Basic from:
http://world.std.com/~carlg/basic.html
To get you started on some source code, there are also plenty of links at that site, but I will also be listing these as I find them, so come back for updates.
Now for the program I produced. Its called 'Sites to Visit'. How often do you come across a link to site and think: "I must visit that site when I'm done here" and then forget all about it until you've forgotten where you even saw the link.  Of course, you could have added the link to your bookmarks - but then you end up with a Bookmark file full of entries - many of which you havent visited - plus you forget why you bookmarked them in the first place.
Sites-to-Visit overcomes this problem.  You leave the program sitting minimised on the task bar until you come across a site that you want to visit later. You copy the link to the clipboard, and then paste it to Sites-to-Visit plus and any comments or description you want. Later, you get Sites-to-Visit to produce a HTM Links page of these sites. You can then check them out at your leisure, and if they are worthwhile, add them to your Bookmark file. (I actually have this HTM page as my HOME page, and when I get Sites-to-Visit to include my latest additions, all I need to do is hit RELOAD!
Since I've produced this program with the shareware version, you will need Liberty Basic to run it.  Please try it out and send me your comments.

By the way, I already have some updates in mind - such as allowing your own custom HTM code to be added to the top or the bottom of the HTM page, so that you can have your other favorite links and search engines on your Home page.  Let me know if that would be helpful - or any other ideas you have.
